About Me
My name is Kim, and I am an evolution. I am daughter, sister, partner, cousin, creator, scientist, writer, speaker, public servant, artist, defender, captain, golfer, pharmacist, filmmaker, friend.
My time is spent trying to fulfill these roles as best I can. After pursuing a ’practical’ career in science…I have recently embarked on a journey of expression of repressed creativity through writing and film. As writer/director/ producer/editor, I combine my passions for writing and visual story-telling with my love of horror/suspense. In addition to my first screenplay ‘Shortcut’, a simple yet horrific tale of blinding rivalry, I am amidst a handful more short stories and screenplays – including elements of early American history, autobiography, vengeance, psychological disturbance, empowerment, rural culture, and salvation – all in various stages of development. I cut my film-making teeth on an ultra low-budget super short horror film entitled “Game”, and my second short horror film “Ryan” was a finalist in the 2008 Frederick 72-hour Film Festival. My third film, PUKER, is a short documentary about my good friend Tim “Puker” Whistler, a locally famous skateboarder in the Washington, D.C./Maryland/Virginia area in the 1980s. The story chronicles the birth, peak, and demise of his skating career up to his present-day return to the sport he loved and left 20 years ago. PUKER is currently screening at a few film festivals and has been welcomed with a heart-warming response. Aside from PUKER, my current projects include a collaborative feature film, a full-length screenplay I have vowed to complete by July 2012, and expressing my thoughts on this blog.
